Centre Defers Decision to Raise Ration Sugar Prices..

Centre Defers Decision to Raise Ration Sugar Prices..
pg12, The Economic Times dated 29th November 2012......  Fears backlash from Opposition and Voter apathy ahead of Polls.

The better way for the country is for the Government to gradually remove all Subsidies and Pay the farmer for his Produce at predetermined rates. The Farmer should Pay for the Electricity, Fertilisers and other Inputs consumed at prevalent Market rates. The only subsidy the Government will provide is to release Food grains at controlled rates to fair Price shops. They cannot charge more than 2% for the rates of Grains and other Essentials released through them to Consumers. All thefts due to these subsidies will disappear, (which actually enrich the Rich)  and will reduce the burden on the exchequer.
