The Postman

Strange as it may seem, this is my experience with my very own postman
Have known him well the past 2 decades.
Having retired in 2010 from active service, I have been stretching my days
During my years at work, Diwali-Christmas Bakshish has been given generously
But with the passing years the amounts reduced from Rs 500 to Rs 300.
This year the amount was further reduced to Rs 100/- because the finances were tight.

My Daughter in Law applied for her PAN Card.
On the said date a message arrived that the card has been dispatched on my mobile

2 days later, the Postman arrived, with the PAN Card.
He said he could only hand deliver it to her
I told him you are aware she is at work overseas
and you can give it to me, recording my id

He regretted and asked me to meet the Post Master at Azad Nagar Post Office 400053.
I visited the Post Office the next day and asked the Post Master if it was right to make a Senior Senior Citizen run around like this. He regretted and asked his staff to hand it to me immediately.

I would like to see this postman who has been taken care of the past 2 decades with good doles,
to be transferred to a remote post office in the state for 6 months as a lesson to others not to be cruel to senior citizens, because their bakshish has been reduced. The Postman is Chandu Kadam, and he serves the Four Bungalows area.
